This Year, Save Money on Your Business Insurance!

Are you ready to start saving in 2012? Let’s start with your business insurance! As your reliable Texas insurance agency, we have a few tips to offer.

Here are five ways to save on your business insurance:

#1: Choose a higher deductible. By choosing a high deductible, you may need to pay extra once an accident occurs, but your premium will be lower. Many businesses can afford the higher deductible.

#2: Take advantage of group rates. The bigger the group, the more savings! If you are a part of an organization, you can often get a group rating. Be sure to check with your local chamber of commerce!

#3: Improve safety in the workplace. Having extra safety features such as training programs and even a security system may help reduce your premium. Make sure your agent knows about these features!

#4: Reduce your coverage. Sounds weird, right? However, while your company needs coverage that does not mean that it needs EVERY single policy. Make sure you speak with your Texas insurance agency about putting the proper coverage in place without overdoing it.

#5: Consider relocation. Many times, your premium will be based on the location and area you are in. If your company is based in a high-crime or risky area, the premium will be much higher. It may be time to relocate!

There are always ways to save on your business insurance premium- you just have to do the research and make the proper changes. Good luck!

Top 10 New Year’s Eve Safety Tips!

In only a few days, 2012 will be here! Can you believe it?

While we all enjoy celebrating New Year’s Eve with friends and family, we also realize just how dangerous it can be without the proper precautions. It is fact that New Year’s Eve is the night with the highest rate of drunk-driving accidents and collisions. If you and your friends are not careful about driving and throwing parties, you are sure to become a part of that statistic.

In order to keep you safe this holiday, our Colorado insurance agency has put together a list of the top 10 safety tips for New Year’s Eve. Take a look!

  1. If you are hosting a party, always serve food and non-alcoholic beverages along with the alcohol.
  2. Make sure your home is ready for guests to spend the night.
  3. Put away all fragile items and valuables in your home to prevent an accident or damage.
  4. Stop serving alcohol at LEAST an hour or two before guests will be leaving.
  5. Call your local cab agency to find out their rates and hours.
  6. If you will be driving home later, make sure you find a designated driver.
  7. If you are going over a friend’s place, always pack an overnight bag; just in case.
  8. Whether you have been drinking or not, always be alert on the drive home. You never know who is driving next to you!
  9. Be careful setting off fireworks. If you never have done so, it may be best to pass on this.
  10. Make sure your pets are safe and sound; many may be afraid of loud noises, fireworks, crowds and the rowdiness in your home.

These top 10 safety tips are only a few ways to help you avoid an accident on New Year’s Eve. As long as you are mindful of your actions and monitor your alcohol intake, you should be okay!

The Holidays Are Here! Are your Decorations Up?

With the holidays only a few days away, we thought we would check up on the status of your decorations! While many Americans may have their décor all ready, others are scrambling to put up the tree. While holiday decorations are beautiful and fun for all, they can also be extremely dangerous without the proper care or caution.

In order to avoid a decoration disaster, our Texas insurance agency has put together a few safety precautions.

#1: Check your holiday lights. Holidays lights are beautiful both indoors and out. However, it is important to make sure that all bulbs are working properly, not cracked and the wiring is not damaged. Be sure to also check the label for a UL or ETL label to make sure they are safe to use!

#2: Hang up the stockings. Decorating the fireplace and mantle is great around this time of year, but be careful with placement. Make sure stockings are not too low, or else a jumping ember could start a small fire.

#3: Put up the tree. Whether real or fake, it is important that you keep your tree away from any heat sources to avoid a fire. Place your tree in a study stand to avoid a fall and pass on glass decorations if you have children!

#4: Put out the Menorah. If you are celebrating Hanukkah, it is time to light the Menorah! However, remember to put out the flames if you are not around or sleeping.

#5: Keep your pets safe. Avoid using tinsel on the tree. Tinsel is a choking hazard for animals, especially cats. It is also important to make sure you pass on the mistletoe and poinsettias because both are toxic to animals if ingested. Your pets should be able to enjoy the holidays, too!

If you have yet to decorate, get moving! You only have a few days left to enjoy these decorations! As long as you are careful and mindful of placement and these safety tips, you should not experience a holiday mishap.

However, if you are faced with a fire or any other damages to your home, our home insurance policy is sure to keep you safe.  You will have coverage from your personal possessions to the physical structure of your home. Be sure to speak with our Texas insurance agency if you are concerned with your policy.

Happy holidays!
